Artist Statement

My artistic endeavors include painting, mixed media, encaustic, sculpture and drawing.  In my work, I am increasingly driven by process. I have been experimenting, currently with sculpture and encaustic which has allowed me to explore the abstract as well as placing  subjects in an environment. I am motivated by the perplexity of constant stimulus to our senses, reacting by creating and recreating images. Intentionally or unconsciously I form a dialogue with my work in an attempt to share my experience with others.   We tend to spend an enormous amount of energy trying to control the external world. For me, art is a way of communicating and exploring that interaction, control or lack thereof, with the medium. The process of my work creates a window to my personal perspective of my external world.
